Spring is the traditional time for having a clear-out – and Steve Clarke says that locksmiths, like anyone else in the security industry using vans, should begin with their refuelling. Marketing manager for The Fuelcard People, a Fuel Card Group company, he insists that it makes sense for any business using road transport. “Some firms have been using the same fuel cards for years, without ever taking a real look at the alternatives. Some, unbelievably, are happy to pay pump prices. For anything else they buy, from tyres to teabags, they shop around for bargains. You would think that they would be equally keen on keeping down the cost of refuelling.”
Steve Clarke points out that the fuel card market has changed significantly over the years and that there are real differences between fuel cards. He throws out a bold challenge to locksmiths: whatever your current deal, it could be better.
“Invest a couple of minutes in calling us,” he says, “and tell us about your refuelling. Ask to speak to Ryan Iley, who heads our mixed fleets team. I am absolutely sure that we will be able to find you a better deal. If we can, you save money. If not, you gain peace of mind from the confirmation of having the best possible refuelling. Either way, you win. It is “Spring cleaning” time, so start with your fuel cards.”
