Retail giant Safestyle UK has just signed a two-year supply agreement with Mila, which will extend the longstanding partnership between the businesses to almost 20 years.
Mila will continue to be Safestyle UK’s preferred hardware supplier until the end of 2014 and will provide the vast majority of its hardware requirements. This currently includes the new ProSecure security handle, Evolution anti-bump cylinder and ProStyle letter box for Safestyle UK’s range of composite doors, the iDeal butt hinge and letterbox for its PVC doors and Siegenia Trident Espags and ProLinea Espag handles for its window products.
Richard Gyde, Mila’s managing director, commented: “Safestyle UK is one of the largest and most advanced fabrication businesses in the UK, with lean manufacturing processes and a just in time environment which are very demanding of component suppliers. For example, the terms of the agreement dictate guaranteed next working day deliveries for all orders placed before 5pm Monday to Friday and continual feedback on the accuracy of demand forecasting by individual product line.
“We have shown that we are not only capable of meeting these demands week in and week out but also of responding to Safestyle UK’s commitment to continuous improvement with innovations in both customer service and bespoke product development.”
Mila delivers an average of more than 38,000 items to Safestyle UK’s Wombwell factory every week and, in the year leading up to the signing of the new agreement, has achieved on time in full delivery levels of 98.52%.
Mark Scaife, operations director at Safestyle UK, said: “Mila is one of our most valued suppliers, sharing our commitment to continuous improvement and helping us to ensure that we maintain the highest levels of production efficiency and product quality.
“Their ability to deliver on time in full is crucial to our market leading labour efficiencies – we don’t lose time waiting for hardware stock to be delivered and their exceptionally low product rejection rates mean we don’t waste time on remakes or remedials.”
