Door Hardware that’s Right on Q

image1

Door and Window security specifications just became more stringent following the implementation of Document Q. The Approved Document came into effect on the 1st of October, and will feature the new government guidelines covering security of ‘easily accessible’ doors and windows in homes. The guidelines are to help builders and those in the construction industry meet new standards set out by the Building Regulations for England. They specifically focus on door hardware requirements, which will become more demanding.

The updates apply to doors and windows that provide access from the outside of a dwelling or communal area of a building into a home. These doors and windows must be able to resist attack by a casual or opportunist burglar by being both sufficiently robust and fitted with the correct door hardware.

How can UAP help?

image3Document Q highlights the new requirement that any door fitted after the 1st of October 2015 on the outside of a dwelling, or that provides access into a flat or apartment block, should have the correct door hardware.
Letter plates should not exceed a certain size and should try and prevent people from removing keys from the inside of a house. Main entry doors should have a door viewer so they can see who is calling and the same door should also have some kind of door chain or door guard.

UAP have always made maximum security a priority, and provide top quality products that will help doors measure up to the new standards. The unprecedented range of door hardware solutions deal with all the new necessary requirements, they have it all covered!

The entire range of letter plates meet up to the BS EN 1303:2005 standards, and UAP even have a selection of hidden letter plate restrictor shrouds, which help stop hands as well as sticks and hooks being put through the letter box.

image2UAP also have a selection of high security, extra strong door chains and guards which have been deemed a requirement on all easy access doors.

As a company who believe everyone should have the most secure door possible, UAP have always stated there is an extreme risk in leaving any main entry door without the protection of a door spyhole – and now it seems government guidelines reflect these concerns. They have a growing range of spyholes for all types of doors and for all needs. So you’ve no need to look any further for the best door hardware solutions to meet Document Q sanctions!
