Clint Robertson, sales director for Access 2, specialist in the supply of masterkeyed manual and electronic access solutions, talks to Locksmith about the company’s quest to enhance its offering to Locksmiths and Architectural Ironmongers with its new high-security 3* Euro cylinder, Tigris.
Access 2 is the UK’s market leader in the supply of masterkeyed cylinder locks and wherever there is a new build or major refurbishment project in the health, education, hotels and leisure, defence and law, banking, retail or commercial sectors, then the company pride themselves on being one of the premium suppliers for access control, security systems and doors.
More recently, the business has added the new Tigris Premier 3 Euro cylinder, giving what the company believe to be an opening in to the domestic market and an opportunity for Locksmith to capitalise on its new product.
Clint picks up the story: “We are an independent limited company driven by a group of highly experienced security specialists, dedicated to deliver innovative products. Our Tigris® and eTigris® access Security Control Systems have been our registered trademarks since 20XX and since that time the business has added a large number of products and associated brands to our ranges to assist our clients to find the perfect solution for their needs.
“The Tigris Plus, Tigris Premier, Tigris Omega and now the Tigris Premier 3 are all masterkeyed access systems which support the businesses integrated mechanical and electronic access control system – eTigris® .
“The company has been working hard towards the development of products, and has created not only new products which perform outstandingly, but can give us access to other markets outside the spectrum of work we currently reside in.
“The newly launched Tigris Premier 3 has been created to support the move towards higher security within the cylinder market, and offers far more features and benefits than the original Tigris Premier, adding the TS007 3* badge to its portfolio of accreditations.
“Our move to supply a 3* Euro cylinder enhances our involvement we have establish for our products in the commercial market. Our association with the GAI (Guild of Architectural Ironmongers), the DHF (Door and Hardware Federation) and the MLA (Master Locksmiths Association) reinforces our commitment to the industry, continuously evolving to provide the perfect solution.
“The high performing cylinder offers the benefit of being accredited to BS EN1303, covering BS3621; anti-bump, pick, drill functions as well as offering a masteredkey system of up to 36,000 differs.
“The Tigrus Premier 3 system is also patented, as it operates much like a conventional six pin cylinder, with the exception that the key and cylinder profile has a double undercut known as a ‘Branch Groove’, which cannot be reproduced without breaking the product patent therefore providing a physical legal barrier to those who may attempt to copy illegally blanks for the system. Duplicate keys can only be obtained from Access2 and are supplied to authorised dealers.
“Manufactured from high grade nickel, the cylinder can be supplied with an alternative range of thumbturns and finishes, including satin nickel, polished brass, polished chrome and bronze.
“Our customer’s have always been architectural ironmongers or security providers, but with this has brought the advantages of gaining the required accreditations and qualifications the company has needed to work on major projects. The Tigris Premier 3 now opens up an opportunity for a new market to us working with Locksmiths, but also allows them to broaden their skills further within the commercial markets.
“But not only that, offering a full suite of masterkeyed products enables the Locksmith to look at simpler residential developments, with the confidence of providing an superior product.
“Another area of difference we can offer is our ability to colour-match our products in a variety of finishes over and above the standard chrome, brass or bronze finishes. Our Colourmatch Service is carefully applied either by powder coating, electrophoretic lacquering, electroplating and metal polishing or linishing.
“These processes are guaranteed to offer clients the highest level of finish against robust use and offer resilience against key damage. Obviously, lead times apply on bespoke items when using Colourmatch, however we endeavour to work with our customers to ensure the best outcome for their needs.
“We are keen to work closer with the Locksmith market and believe that the new Tigrus Premier 3 will assist us by helping the Locksmith offer a choice in small to medium masterkeyed application.” Clint concludes.
