UAP’s TS008 Soterian Slim Letter plate has been crowned the Best Technical Innovation at the GGP Installer Awards 2023 last Thursday.
Run by Glass and Glazing Products (GGP) magazine, the awards recognise the hard work and professionalism of the UK’s window, door and conservatory installers, and the products and businesses that support them.
The award was presented to UAP’s former Technical Services Director, John McLoughlin, at a ceremony at The Midland Hotel in Manchester on 16 March 2023 by comedian Nina Wadia OBE. John designed the TS008 Soterian Slim and following his retirement last year, is still involved in UAPs product development as a consultant.
Designed in-house, the Soterian Slim Certifire letterplate is unique to the UK market and the most compact TS008-compliant letterplate ever made. Manufactured for 44mm – 70mm composite, timber and uPVC doors, the product is fast and easy to install, and provides a safer, more secure and convenient solution for the end user.
Speaking about the award, John said: “I studied Industrial and Product Design at Manchester Polytechnic and ironically, one of my first projects was to design a letterplate. That was more than 50 years ago and it’s safe to say, my knowledge and technology have developed significantly since then!
“Thanks to UAP’s continued investment in new product development and the skills of its in-house team, we’ve been able to create a truly innovative letterplate. The TS008 Soterian Slim offers installers and end users a vast range of benefits, and it’s incredibly rewarding that these qualities have been recognised with this top award.
“It was an honour to receive the trophy on UAP’s behalf. The whole team should be very proud of this achievement.”
