A Busy Year For Burg-Wächter

It’s been a busy year for Germany’s leading security brand, Burg-Wächter, with a host of new product launches, exhibitions and awards. Here, Matt Parkes, Marketing Manager at Burg-Wächter, gives an overview of the last 12 months.

Exciting new product

“Back in April, we launched our new Security Solution Kits designed to make security simple by including everything needed – such as sturdy ground anchors, braided steel cables and of course appropriate high-quality locks – in one convenient box. The comprehensive range covers shed, garage, barbeque, garden furniture, leisure vehicles and much more.

“In addition, a number of the kits have products that are independently tested by Sold Secure, part of the Master Locksmith Association and are also approved by Secured by Design, the official police initiative that works to improve security through good product design.

“When we think of home burglaries, our minds often turn to inside the home. But nine out of 10 household thefts occur in the garden, while 1.6 million households have suffered theft from their gardens in the previous two years.

“Furniture, barbeques, and heaters are just some big-ticket items that your customers might have in the garden for example and it’s worth considering how secure and protected these items are with the above facts and figures in mind.

“Our Security Kits are supported by an extensive influencer campaign with the aim of conveying the message ‘If you have a security problem, we have a solution’ at its very heart.

“September saw the launch of the brand new Pure-Safe range, which combines elegant modern design with convenience – with its easy to operate electronic lock and automatic locking bolts feature, clear LCD display, touch sensitive keys and even an optional capacitive touch finger-print reader. Rated at £1000 for cash and £10,000 for valuables, Pure-Safe offers not only great protection for cash and valuables but also delivers an extensive choice of both lock and size options.”

New catalogue launch

“Our customers expect more, not only with product but also with service and part of that is providing clear concise information in a format that’s convenient to locksmiths. That’s why we’ve launched our brand-new updated product catalogue – available in both hard copy and digital versions – designed to be clear and to provide the right information at the right time.

“We have taken a practical approach to how the catalogue will be used – for example, throughout the padlock section of the catalogue, locksmiths will find that all available product information, key suites and key blanks detail is included on the same page per range, making it so much quicker and easier to find whatever is required since all relevant information is together on one page.

“The new catalogue brings together our complete product range, including exciting new lines and refinement of existing ones.”

Exhibitions and events

“It’s important to be visible to customers and exhibitions and events offer a great opportunity to meet face to face. At the beginning of the year, Burg-Wächter Exhibited at the Hardware Show in Dublin, an important event in the sector and top show for merchants and retailers in Ireland.

“In addition, the company was to be found at the ATLAS ‘Secured by Design’ Police Crime Prevention Officer Conference an exhibition in February. Highly significant, Burg-Wächter was able to highlight its extensive and high-quality range of security products at both events.

“Burg-Wächter was also successful in this year’s prestigious DIY Awards, held in London in May, winning ‘Security Product of the Year’ with it Sold Secure Bicycle Security Kit featuring a 2.0 metre chain, U-Lock and ground anchor.”

Community campaigns and more

“Our Secure Communities Scheme gives regional community leaders and volunteers the chance to win up to £200 worth of security kit for their organisation and is our way of delivering a helping hand to a whole variety of deserving groups who support people within their local area.

“In recognition of all the hard work and dedication that goes into running initiatives – from sports and after-school clubs to scout groups and foodbanks – we’re proud to have helped over 100 local causes by supplying in excess of 2000 pieces of security equipment to help keep their precious resources and premises safe and look forward to assisting more in the coming year.

“Finally, our Locktoberfest campaign – a playful nod to our German heritage – ran in October, when consumers naturally think of security issues and we provide simple ways to solve them, with information and competitions in consumer media, Locktoberfest was a great success.”

“After a busy 12 months, we look forward to continuing to provide great products and a fantastic service to all our valued customers.”
