Axis Communications enters the physical access control market in Europe by offering a network door controller with built-in web-based software and complementary door reader. Axis physical access control products are a complement to its existing portfolio of innovative network video products and create unique integration possibilities for partners and end users.
Axis, the world leader in network video, has extended its AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller offering to Europe, following a successful launch in the US last year.
“This is a natural complement as many partners have experience of access control and would like to co-operate with us,” says Bodil Sonesson, Vice President, Global Sales, Axis Communications (pictured).
The launch in the US was well-received and we have been getting positive feedback from both our partners and end users. We expect to see similar success of this new addition in the European markets.”
AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller is the first non-proprietary and open IP-based access controller on the market. It is a platform for two different solutions. AXIS Entry Manager (AXIS A1001 with built-in software) is a ready-made solution for small- to mid-sized businesses – such as offices, industries and retail stores – with typically 10 doors and basic access control requirements.
For larger enterprise systems, AXIS A1001’s open application programming interface enables Axis’ Application Development Partners (ADP) to meet specific customer requirements. At present, 25 Axis ADP partners offer solutions, which include video integration and advanced access control functionality.
“Physical security systems start to behave more similar to IT systems, where non-proprietary hardware and open standards have already been a logical concept for many years,” says Arjan Bouter, Sales Director Nedap Security Management. “The new AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller perfectly fits within this trend. You now have full access to the powerful AEOS Security Management Software.”
AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller will shortly be available in Europe through Axis’ distribution channels.
