We are continually developing new and improved courses to meet with changes and demand in the industry. Our most recent additions are our composite and uPVC masterclass, and our safes and safe servicing course.
Composite and uPVC Masterclass
Following the courses launch the 4 March, we’ve received some fantastic and very positive feedback. The next course will run on the 8 July 2023 and is already pretty much sold out so we’ll be looking to run a third later in the year.
Open to both members and non-members this course is designed for locksmiths with strong uPVC knowledge looking to improve on their existing skills to take on more work.
With more auto-fire composite doors being installed around the country, this course will give you something extra in your armoury to deal with these types of multipoint locking mechanisms.
We’ve recently installed some brand-new uPVC and composite training doors in our training room, along with having 12 of the most commonly found MPLs which will be used for students to get a hands-on experience in this course.
What you’ll learn:
- Advanced opening techniques on composite Auto-fire doors (not picking).
- Auto-fire manual with detailed photographs of different mechanisms, escutcheons, hinges, and adjustments.
- With more auto-fire composite doors being installed around the country, this course will give you something extra in your armoury to deal with these types of multipoint locking mechanisms.
- uPVC casement window systems including mechanism and hinge recognition and replacement also methods used to open failed mechanisms.
- Glazing systems including removal and fitting of double-glazed units and toe & heeling.

Safes and safe servicing
Another brand-new course for 2023, open to both members and non-members and perfect for locksmiths wishing to add safe installation and servicing to their range of services.
We ran the first (sold out) course on the 11 March and were delighted to also receive excellent feedback from the full class. We will be re-running the course later in the year.
Created and delivered by renowned safe expert Jon Drake this course offers a great introduction to safes and safes servicing, the different types of safe and their uses, the different types of locking devices and how to recover locked safes and miss set combinations.
What you’ll learn:
- Learn about re-lockers, basic drill points, barrier materials, lost codes, destructive
entry, servicing. - Understand the different types of safe and their uses.
- Know the different types of locking and re-locking devices.
- Know the things to be aware of when servicing.
- Understand the grades of safes.
- How to recover fired re locked if accidentally fired while changing locks.
- Types of mechanical combination locks.
- How to recover a miss set combination and then how to set a new combination for a customer.
